Govenors
The governing body plays an important role in the leadership and development of Loudwater Combined School. Governors work with the headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure that the school provides the best possible education and opportunities for all pupils.
Our Governing Body
The governing body sets the school’s strategic direction, holds the headteacher to account for educational performance and oversees financial management. Our governors bring a range of skills and experience and are committed to supporting the school and its pupils. The governing body carries out its responsibilities through full governing body meetings and, where applicable, committees and delegated roles. The information below explains the current governance structure, committee membership, chairs and areas of responsibility.

As Headteacher at Loudwater, I love being part of a school where everyone knows one another, people genuinely care for each other and there is always support when it is needed. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing children overcome challenges they once thought were beyond them and watching their confidence grow as a result. Our value of *Individuality* is particularly important to me, as I believe every child should be encouraged to be themselves and celebrate what makes them unique. Outside school, I enjoy football and a range of other sports, and I have recently discovered a love of paddleboarding. I am a big fan of indie music and love going to gigs, with Oasis and Kasabian among my favourite bands. I also enjoy building LEGO models, particularly Star Wars sets. A fun fact about me is that I once won a best dancer competition on a popular TV show simply by jumping up and down a lot!

Having served on the Governing Body since 2023 , I was appointed as Chair of the Governors at the later part of 2025 My role as Chair of the Governors is to ensure we have a diverse, representative Board that adds real value, a board that is empathetic but inquisitive, that helps ensure that the school delivers best in class education and environment for its pupils. As a governing body we should be the best advocates for the children of the school both internally and externally. I am married, with two children that attend the school. As most parents when looking at local schools for our children to attend, we visited several local schools. We were convinced that the Loudwater Community School was right academic and pastoral community for our children, after having been guided around the school by representatives from Year six. On leaving the school I remember my wife saying to me” if are boys are as rounded, polite and proud of their school, as our two school tour guides today, when they are in year six, we would be more than delighted” Over the past twenty-five years I have managed of number of businesses and CICs, in a variety of sectors that include FMCG, Recruitment and Employability and Military Veteran Assistance Programmes and Communities

As Vice Chair of Governors, I work closely with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors to ensure that the governing body works effectively as a supportive and collaborative team. I have been proud to serve as a Parent Governor since 2023. I have worked in Primary Education since 2010 and have lived in Loudwater for the past 14 years. During that time, I have become actively involved in both the school and the wider local community, which I value greatly. I am passionate about using my professional experience to support the leadership team in developing strong, forward-thinking strategies that improve educational outcomes for all pupils. I am equally committed to promoting the wellbeing of both pupils and staff, recognising that a positive, supportive environment is essential for everyone to thrive

I joined the Governing Body in 2025, driven by a passion for inclusive education. What strikes me most is our school’s uniquely warm, welcoming atmosphere—a close-knit community where everyone is known and valued. My goal is to ensure every child at Loudwater receives the tailored support they deserve. My professional role as a Nursing lecturer at BNU and my PhD research into neurodivergent student support provide the academic expertise for this work. This is powerfully combined with my lived experience as a person with Autism and ADHD and as a parent of a child with SEND at the school. This blend allows me to advocate effectively for students with extra needs and to support our dedicated staff. I believe every child deserves to learn in a safe, supportive environment. At Loudwater, we don’t just teach core knowledge for academic success; we nurture values, resilience, and essential life skills. I am deeply committed to ensuring our school provides this holistic, nurturing experience for all.

Volunteer Reader
Years 4 & 6Read bio
I worked in Secondary Schools for a number of years as a teacher of PE and French. However, during the last 15 – 20 years of my career, my teaching role was reduced as I took on new challenges as a member of SLT. In 2017 I took early retirement from teaching and started my own business “Singing Across The Ages” whereby I organised for groups of children from local schools to share school work and have a “singalong” with both the elderly and adults with dementia. I worked with LCS on several occasions and I believe that the children and adults wholly benefitted from the experience. I currently work as a Volunteer Reader at LCS whereby children in Years 4 & 6 read to me every week . I also work as a Volunteer at a local Community Centre and assist with Dance Shows for 2 local dance schools. I have always enjoyed working with children formerly as a teacher and now as a Governor where I hope that my previous knowledge and skills will help towards maintaining the success of LCS.
