Equality and Accessibility
At Loudwater Combined School, we want every child, member of staff, parent and visitor to feel welcome, valued and respected. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment in which everyone has the opportunity to participate, achieve and thrive.
We promote positive relationships, challenge discrimination and encourage pupils to respect and celebrate individual differences. Our values of Pride, Empathy, Honesty, Individuality, Respect and Responsibility support a culture in which everyone feels they belong.
Equality and Accessibility
Public Sector Equality Duty
As a school subject to the Public Sector Equality Duty, we have due regard to the need to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
We consider equality when making decisions about teaching and learning, pupil support, behaviour, staffing, the school environment and wider school life. We review information and feedback to help identify barriers and decide where action may be needed.
Annual equality information and actions: [Insert a factual annual update describing work undertaken, what has changed or improved, and next steps, supported by evidence.]
Equality objectives
Objective 1: Equality of opportunity and achievement
To ensure that all pupils, particularly disadvantaged pupils and those who face barriers to learning, have the support and opportunities they need to achieve well.
How we will work towards this:
- Regularly analyse attainment and progress data for disadvantaged pupils and other relevant pupil groups.
- Identify and address barriers to learning, participation and achievement.
- Evaluate the impact of targeted support and interventions.
How we will measure success: Improved progress and outcomes for identified groups, with any gaps in achievement understood and appropriate action taken.
Objective 2: Inclusion, accessibility and participation
To ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum, participate fully in school life and feel that they belong, regardless of their individual needs or circumstances.
How we will work towards this:
- Review how effectively teaching and learning meet the needs of pupils with SEND and those who speak English as an additional language.
- Identify and reduce barriers to participation in lessons, clubs, trips, enrichment activities and wider school opportunities.
- Gather pupil voice and work with families to understand and respond to individual needs.
How we will measure success: Evidence of improved access, participation and pupil experience, alongside regular reviews of provision and feedback from pupils and families.
Objective 3: Respect, diversity and belonging
To develop a school community in which diversity is valued, discrimination and prejudice are challenged, and everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
How we will work towards this:
- Embed equality, diversity and respect through our curriculum, assemblies and school values.
- Help pupils understand and respect differences, including those relating to disability, race, religion or belief, sex and other protected characteristics.
- Monitor reported incidents of bullying, discrimination and prejudice, ensuring that concerns are addressed appropriately.
How we will measure success: Pupils demonstrate an understanding of respect and inclusion, feel safe and valued, and incidents are recorded, addressed and reviewed to identify any patterns.
